Trials cyclist Danny MacAskill was on the brink of taking his already amazing career to new heights when he was given an unenviable choice. Danny was about to begin work on a new Red Bull film, Imaginate, but his back was in constant pain and his knee was at 50% strength. After being sent to DISC Sports & Spine Center, Dr. Bray told Danny he could wait it out and with 10 months of physical therapy and work in the gym the pain might go away and he might heal on his own or he could elect surgery which had a much higher success rate but would still keep him out of action for months. Danny opted for minimally invasive surgery on his back and knee.
Four weeks after surgery, Danny rode his bike for the first time when he did a demo ride for Red Bull. It would take a few more months before Danny could begin work on his Imaginate project but less than a year after surgery, the film was completed. With his project finished and well on the way to full recovery, Danny couldn’t have been happier with how things turned out.
